green smoothies

It’s another day at home with sick boys.  They have not had much of an appetite, but this morning we found a way to get some good nutrition in them with absolutely no complaint or hesitation on their part.
Are you ready for this?

Green Smoothies

1 container yogurt (I used Stonyfield Oikos Blueberry Greek yogurt)
a bunch of kale, spinach or swiss chard
1 cup strawberries
1/2 cup blueberries
2 T. ground flax meal
1 banana
1/2 c. orange juice
You can add honey to sweeten, or tweek ingredients to taste.
Blend and Enjoy!

We normally use kale, but this time I had swiss chard on hand.  I've also used spinach and wheatgrass.  Swiss chard definitely had a more earthy flavor than the others.  But, I upped the banana from 1/2 to a whole and added more juice than I would, and they did not seem to mind one bit.

Enjoy your Sabbath everyone!
It will be a restful day around here for sure.  As ready as I am to fill our days with the adventures we'd planned, it is a nice reminder to be still and know that He is God.  We've been begging Him for health, and sleep.  But Psalm 103 reminds me once again this morning to forget not His benefits, His daily blessings.  So, we're focusing today on the blessings He so graciously gives, like breakfast together this morning.
